Privacy policy

Last updated: July 5, 2026

1. What we collect

For administrators: an email address and a password (stored only as a salted hash). For each synagogue: the profile details entered in the admin panel — name, tagline, logo, geographic coordinates and timezone (used to compute prayer times), and the schedule and announcement content you choose to publish. Public visitors are not required to create accounts and we do not run third-party advertising or tracking on the boards.

2. Payments

Checkout is operated by Paddle, our merchant of record. Card and other payment details go directly to Paddle and never reach our servers; we receive only subscription status information (plan, renewal dates, and Paddle's identifiers). Paddle's own privacy policy governs the data it collects at checkout.

3. Cookies and local storage

We use functional cookies only: your theme (light/dark) and language preferences. Administrators' browsers additionally hold a sign-in token in local storage for the duration of a session. There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

4. Where data lives and how it's used

Data is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States. We use it solely to operate the service — publishing your board, computing zmanim, and administering subscriptions. We do not sell personal data, and we share it only with the processors needed to run the service (AWS for hosting, Paddle for billing) or where the law requires.

5. Retention and your rights

Content and account data are kept while the synagogue's page exists. Announcements that expire disappear from the public board immediately and remain visible only to the synagogue's own administrators. You can ask us to correct, export, or delete your synagogue's data — including removing the page entirely — by writing to support@shul.info.
